Constellation diagram of a 56 Gbit/s QPSK signal, transmitted over a distance of 1 m.

Transmission experiments with the TERAPAN modules of the first generation were performed at the University of Stuttgart for various modulation formats and symbol rates. The transmission distance was up to 2 meters. Date rates in the order of 60 Gbit/s were achieved for lower order modulation schemes.

Currently, the project team of investigates how the data rates can be increased by employing higher order modulation schemes.
